Socchieve is a town whose area extends across the two banks of the upper Tagliamento and lower Lumiei rivers, from beyond the Pani saddle northwards to the Mounts Valcalda and Tamarus southwards, and from Rio Filuvigna eastwards to the Najarda saddle westwards. It comprises 8 hamlets: Socchieve, Nonta, Mediis, Priuso, Lungis, Dilignidis, Feltrone, and Viaso. All these hamlets, except for Priuso, are spread across the bank or slopes to the left of the Tagliamento and Lumiei rivers.
