Ciasa dai Fornés

Forni di Sopra

The 17th-century Busa rural house used to shelter people and animals. It was a residence where people worked iron and textile fibers, alongside agricultural labour. Recently it was restored and, with its opening to the public, it was named Ciasa dai Fornés. On the ground floor it houses an exhibition entitled “Il filo dei ricordi” (“The thread of memories”). Forni di Sopra is also known as a “beautiful town among the most beautiful of the Eastern Dolomites”, as Berti, an academic of the Italian Alpine Club, wrote. It has been a popular tourist resort since the early 1900s, thanks to its winter activities, like cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, ice skating and snowboarding, and summer ones, like hiking and mountain biking. It is the ideal bridge between Carnia and Cadore, across the Mauria Pass that unites the two Alpine areas.
