For centuries, practically from the first human settlements, Pontebba has represented the natural border between peoples and cultures. Later, until the recent past, it was also a political border, the stage of conflicts and international treaties. The importance of this border represents something unique at the heart of Europe and history. In the bibliographic accounts, in the historical memories of many nations, Pontebba and Pontafel are remembered as a natural meeting point between peoples, a compulsory pilgrimage for historians that evokes events and facts that may never be erased.
