The small town of Amaro lies at the foot of the picturesque Mount Amariana and is the first municipality you come across entering Carnia. Right from 1300, it was a gateway for many. In fact, archaeological remains of the Roman era have been discovered there: coins, tombstones, bronze, iron, and terracotta objects, and also Vespasian, Titus, and Domitian coins.
