Resia is located in a magical valley set apart, where a community of Slavic origins lives, preserving traditions and an ancient language, unique in the context of Slavic-speaking communities. The origins of Resia date back to the 7th century, when a community of Slavic origin reached this spot after the Pannonian Avars and Lombards.
Due to its culture, the town represents an extremely important island. Its language is the subject of many studies and very interesting rites are preserved and handed down, like the Resia Carnival and the typical dance – the Resiana – that is animated by a hypnotic and charming melody.
