Duke Ellington is one of the greatest protagonists ever in the music of the 20th-century. His jazz is characterized by an extreme elegance (similar to his well-known sense of style, which earned him the nickname "Duke") and a continuous quest for the ideal of "symphonic jazz" that he pursued.
Alongside his most famous masterpieces, this concert takes us on a journey to rediscover lesser-known but artistically valuable works, such as Oclupaca, Smada, The Mooche, and the Sacred Concerts, with which Ellington - who called them the most important thing he had ever done - aimed to bring jazz into sacred spaces.
Guiding us on this journey is the Cuartet, an original ensemble that aims to present, in a new timbral dimension, not only the 20th-century Brazilian and Argentine music, but also the great masters of jazz, with the intention of highlighting its more cultured aspect.
"ROZAJANSKA KULTURSKA HISA" Cultural Centre
Resia is located in a magical valley set apart, where a community of Slavic origins lives, preserving traditions and an ancient language, unique in the context of Slavic-speaking communities. The origins of Resia date back to the 7th century, when a community of Slavic origin reached this spot after the Pannonian Avars and Lombards.
Due to its culture, the town represents an extremely important island. Its language is the subject of many studies and very interesting rites are preserved and handed down, like the Resia Carnival and the typical dance – the Resiana – that is animated by a hypnotic and charming melody.
