In the heart of the village stands the parish church of San Martino, which has an 18th-century architectural appearance thanks to Domenico Schiavi of Tolmezzo, but its foundation as a parish church probably dates back to the 8th century. Inside are valuable 18th-century furniture, such as the high altar, with side statues of Saints Peter and Paul and a statuette of the Redeemer; the ceiling is decorated with frescoes by Antonio Schiavi of Tolmezzo, in the manner of Tiepolo. A contemporary art park unique in Italy has also sprung up in Villa di Verzegnis: Egidio Marzona, a German collector originally from Verzegnis, works here. For several years he has been inviting international artists representing art movements such as Arte Povera, Land Art and Minimalism. They reject the isolation of art in museums and, while staying in Carnia, make outdoor sculptures.
