The Musical Offering, in particular, enveloped in an almost legendary aura, tells the story of a historic meeting in 1747 between Bach and Frederick the Great of Prussia. The king, a musician himself, wished to test Bach’s renowned improvisational talent by challenging him with a theme of his own composition. Thus, an absolute masterpiece was born.
