The produced project was created to highlight the extraordinary beauty of Bizet’s Carmen, aiming to bring the world of opera closer to families and new generations. Bizet’s Carmen is one of the most beloved masterpieces of the operatic repertoire, famous for its captivating melodies and passionate storyline. Set in the 19th-century Spain, it tells the story of Carmen, a strong and independent woman, and her complicated relationships with Don José and Escamillo. This opera, with its vibrant music and intense characters, manages to captivate audiences of all ages, making the concert an exciting and accessible experience for everyone. Carmen will be presented in a lighter format, as a concert, focusing on the most important moments of the opera, making the performance more dynamic while featuring an excellent cast, accompanied by the Roma Tre Orchestra Ensemble, conducted by Maestro Emanuele Stracchi.

Outside the Pieve di Santa Maria Maggiore
Among the greatest architectural treasures of Pontebba is certainly the Pieve of Santa Maria Maggiore, guardian of the splendid wooden winged altar, known in German as the Flügelaltar, meaning “Winged Altar.” The name derives from the fact that it consists of a central body with two movable panels. This late-Gothic altar, dated 1517, is probably the masterpiece of Maestro Enrico da Villaco.
Due to the quality of its carvings, it is believed to be the work of the same master and to be the prototype of unparalleled quality of a series of altars with a similar structure found in various Austrian churches. Both the wooden sculptures and the paintings show a certain Italian Renaissance influence, adopting a less somber and more “naturalistic” appearance. From a technical point of view, the altar stands out for its superb and highly refined craftsmanship, down to the finest, meticulously created details.
