The Apollon Quartet is today one of the leading interpreters of the illustrious Czech string quartet tradition, heir to a legacy shaped by historic ensembles, such as the Vlach, Janáček, and Smetana quartets. On this evening, after the "serious" Beethoven, we will discover an important Czech composer, Reicha, a musician with a particular interest in wind instruments, to which he devoted a considerable number of compositions. His skillful clarinet writing reveals a deep study of the technique of this instrument. A sense of effervescence dominates this composition, characterized by a higher degree of virtuosity and a remarkable mastery of the writing. The program will conclude with two beautiful jazz-style pieces for string quartet, once again demonstrating the versatility of the Apollon Quartet.
