Music by T. Baumann, G. Puccini, B. Midler, T. Baumann

The twinning of the cities of Simbach in Germany and Tolmezzo is celebrated by hosting an important production for soloists, choir, and orchestra. A "magnificent" opportunity to listen to both well-known and lesser-known pieces. Baumann's musical language is consistently tonal "classical," enriched with accessible melodies connected to styles of traditional music . From afar, the powerful ballad made famous by Bette Midler has become an iconic anthem of hope and unity, winning a Grammy Award for Song of the Year. Its timeless message of love, compassion, and global harmony continues to resonate with listeners worldwide.

Baumann's Magnificat is a typical "crossover composition" of classic and traditional liturgical elements.

Cathedral of San Martino

The current construction of the cathedral of San Martino in Tolmezzo was built by demolishing the former church in 1750, according to a design by architect Domenico Schiavi. It was consecrated in 1764.

The interior of the Tolmezzo cathedral consists of a single, large nave with lateral chapels and a raised presbytery. There are three frescoes on the ceiling attributed to Antonio Schiavi, brother of the architect. In addition, there is a precious cycle of frescoes that can be dated to 1731-32 by Nicola Grassi. These were commissioned by Jacopo Linussio and depict the Apostles, the Madonna, the Saviour, Saint Hilary, and the Crucifixion. Additional, precious objects enrich the important sacred place.
