A portrait of Nina Simone
A show that tells, through words, music, and images, a Nina Simone still little known to many. It portrays a woman, an artist, a fighter, through original songs and pieces written by other authors that Nina performed in her countless concerts worldwide during a hectic, difficult life full of exploitation, loneliness, and inner turmoil.
This performance brings light and voice to a Nina Simone still little known in her deepest and most human aspects. Not the distant diva, not only the extraordinary performer who marked the twentieth century with her raw and unmistakable voice, but a complex, fragile, wounded woman. The child prodigy betrayed in her dream of becoming a classical pianist. The visceral fighter for civil rights. The artist who sang pain, anger, and love, making her music an act of resistance.
On stage, a voice that narrates her extraordinary story, and a voice that, together with a jazz quartet, performs the most significant pieces from her intense repertoire.

Moggio Udinese is a nice place for a lovely walk, where you can still admire examples of manor and Liberty architecture. Here there is also the characteristic Borgo Linussio, located in the village of Glerie, near the Aupa river. At the wishes of Jacopo Linussio from Paularo, this became the site of the family’s factory in 1717, thus reviving home weaving and spinning in Carnia and in Canal del Ferro. Music and melody have always conquered hearts in Moggio, the cradle of the musician and composer Vittorio Franz, but also of other musicians and more. It will suffice to recall the master lute maker Mario Tolazzi, whose instruments are played at the J. Tomadini Music Conservatory in Udine.
