Founded in 2004, the Vienna Girls Choir is the female counterpart of the Wiener Sängerknaben. The program offers a refined journey through centuries of vocal music, bringing together sensitivity and different languages. From Purcell, the master of English Baroque, to Mendelssohn, with his luminous and spiritual writing, passing through the romantic intimacy of Schubert and Hensel. The journey continues with the emotional depth of Hawkins, a representative of contemporary gospel, and concludes with the rhythmic and modern energy of Foidl. The girls rehearse for two hours a day and take individual singing lessons. A three-week summer camp is an essential part of their training, as well as public performances. Occasionally, they perform together with the boys' choir; for example, at the 2023 Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert and more recently, at Christmas in Vienna. The 2025 season includes numerous high-profile events: they will take part in a performance of Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher by Arthur Honegger with the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Frankfurt at the Musikverein in Vienna.
Church of San Nicolò
It has been established that a church already existed in Amaro by 1350. This church was restored in 1450 and in 1650, and rebuilt in 1742. From a 1773 document, we learn that, in the past, this church had been the first branch of the parish church of Cesclans and, later, of Cavazzo.
