Two exceptionally talented siblings come together in this duo, already winners in numerous competitions both individually and as a duo. They are completing their studies, Ulisse in violin with Albena Danailova, Konzertmeister of the Wiener Philharmoniker and with Pavel Berman; Maria Mafalda in cello with Enrico Bronzi and Luca Magariello at the Accademia Incontri col Maestro of Imola.
We will begin with Halvorsen, a composer known for his ability to blend the romantic language with elements of classical and folk music, followed by Ravel, with a kind of tribute to Debussy in which he stands out for his innovative harmonies, the use of modal scales, and his ability to evoke dreamlike atmospheres.
Next, we will listen to Romberg, a German cellist and composer, known for his chamber music works. Lockington combines elements of pop, jazz, and classical music, with a lively rhythm and orchestral writing that aims to engage and entertain the audience, finishing with Halvorsen, who gives us an example of how the form of the passacaglia can be used to develop contrapuntal and harmonic variations, creating a crescendo of intensity and emotional depth.
